What is a string?
Resource files contain one or more strings, each one containing a piece of text (for example, the label of a button). We count strings in all languages except the master, so if you have a project with 1 master resource file containing 100 strings and you translate it in 4 languages, we count 400 strings.
What is a project?
A project is tipically mapped to an application you have to localize. A project can have one master language and multiple target languages.
What is a user?
A user is either an administrator or a translator. Both can edit one or more translations, but only administrators can configure the system, create projects and users, and so on.
What are screenshots?
Amanuens allows you to upload screenshots of the application you're localizing, and also to annotate them with real strings from resource files, giving translators more context.
What is scheduled repo synchronization?
Amanuens can be configured to automatically synchronize (pull/push, update/commit) with source code repositories. Depending on the plan, you can schedule a number of automatic synchronizations each day. Keep in mind that you can always run synchronizations manually.
What are reports?
Reports are an advanced feature that lets you get insight into what's happening in Amanuens, the productivity of translators and potential bottlenecks. Learn more in our features page.
How does customer support work?
Free and Open-source plans get email support at no additional cost. We usually respond very fast, but we give priority to requests coming from paid accounts, which are usually responded to in one business day.
Professional Translation Service
All accounts have access to our integrated software localization services, with prices starting at €0.10 per word and more than 90 languages supported. A minimum fee of €3 is applied to every translation job.
How do I pay?
We handle payments entirely via PayPal. When you sign up to a paid plan, you'll have to follow an easy procedure that will create a PayPal billing agreement between you and us.
After that, we'll bill you monthly and send you the invoice via email.
If you purchase translation jobs from us, you'll have to authorize each payment, and you'll get a separate invoice.
For larger customer, we can handle wire transfer payments as well (contact us for details).
Can I upgrade, downgrade or cancel my account?
You can upgrade or downgrade your account at any time, as well as cancel it completely. You can do this right from your account's control panel.
Do I have to sign any contract?
No, you don't have to sign any contract. Amanuens is billed monthly and you can cancel at any time.
Do I get a free trial?
If you sign up for a paid plan, you get a 30-day free trial. If you sign up for the free plan and then switch to a paid plan, you get the remaining days as free trial (in other words, we'll bill you 30 days after the original account creation date).
How secure is my data?
All accounts are accessed from the web via SSL, guaranteeing that no one except you can see what you're doing.
All user passwords are salted and hashed, and repository access credentials are encrypted. Amanuens runs on the Windows Azure cloud computing platform, which is built precisely to be
secure and reliable.
All of the data has at least 3 copies on 3 different hardware nodes, plus 3 additional copies in a different, and geographically distant datacenter.
